Council of State: 'CBR may no longer order alcohol interlocks'

4 March 2015

Central driving test organization CBR may no longer order drunk drivers to have an alcohol interlock fitted in their cars. The Council of State, the highest administrative court of the Netherlands, decided that today.

According to the judges of the Council of State the alcohol interlock law gives the CBR too little space to make an individual assessment of the individual consequences for the drivers involved. Thereby the program is "disproportionately" severe for some drivers.
