Beer sales in the Netherlands dropped by 36% due to corona measures

14 April 2020

The corona measures led to a 36% drop in beer sales. This decrease was measured from March 15, when the catering industry closed in the Netherlands.

Some breweries are hit harder than others. Several smaller brewers are said to be currently experiencing a drop in beer sales of more than 90%.

Dutch Brewers Association expects that declining beer sales will continue as long as measures regarding the new corona virus cannot be relaxed. The trade association therefore indicates that it would be good news if the catering industry can reopen again in a responsible manner.
