Dutch alcohol consumption per capita decreased in 2014 by 1.8%

In 2014 the consumption of alcohol in the Netherlands was 7.01 liters pure alcohol per capita. In 2013 the per capita consumption was 7.14 liters. So there is a slight decrease of 1.8%. This is evident from analysis of recent data from the Dutch Brewers, the Ministry of Finance and the Education Foundation Wine Netherlands, conducted by the Dutch Institute for Alcohol Policy STAP.

Looking at the different beverage types separately, we see that the decrease occurred in both beer (minus 1.7%), as in wine (minus 1%), as in spirits (minus 4.1%).
